I really enjoy working with computers. I have built, re-built, and even destroyed a few computers.
I first learned how to program in BASIC in 1979. My first computer was a Commodore VIC-20 which I purchased for $300 in 1981. My next computer was an Apple //e in 1985. After that I purchased a Commodore 64 in 1986 and a Commodore Amiga 2000 in 1989. I have used PCs since 1985, but didn't buy my first one until 1996. I still have my Amiga 2000 and Apple //e, but I mainly use my PCs now.
Computer networking is my first true love when it comes to computers. I enjoy designing small networks (up to 30 computers) from scratch or upgrading existing computer networks. Upgrading is the most challenging because you have no idea what kind of mess you'll end up having to correct before the network will work properly.
I enjoy programming but I don't seem to have the time anymore to sit down and write as much as I used to.
I love helping people who are having trouble with problems in their life. I have been told that I am a very good listener and I have a lot of patience. I have helped people with a wide range of issues from thinking about suicide to homework related problems.
I love the water and enjoy going to the beach. The ocean seems to have a calming effect on me. Whenever I get extremely stressed about something I find myself going to the beach, usually at night, and just sit and listen to the waves crash onto the shore. When I was in the Navy, I would often sit on the fantail of the ship at night and listen to the water splash against the hull of the ship and feel the salt water spray hit my face. As I stared out into the darkness, my mind would have the opportunity to forget about all the events that happened during the day.
